Lexington Flying Pigs Alumnus Ty Brachbill Selected by the San Diego Padres in the 2026 MLB Draft

LEXINGTON, N.C. – July 13, 2026 – The Lexington Flying Pigs are proud to congratulate former pitcher Ty Brachbill on being selected by the San Diego Padres in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, marking another significant milestone in his outstanding baseball career.

Brachbill made his mark with the Flying Pigs during the 2025 Old North State League season, establishing himself as one of the league's most dominant pitchers. He compiled an impressive 6-0 record, recorded 63 strikeouts in just 34 innings pitched, and surrendered only four earned runs throughout the season.

One of the defining moments of his summer came when he delivered a historic 21-strikeout performance over eight innings, one of the most memorable pitching performances in Old North State League history. His exceptional season earned him the 2025 Old North State League Pitcher of the Year award.

Following his success in Lexington, Brachbill continued to elevate his game at High Point University. During the 2026 season, he posted an outstanding 11-2 record, set the program's single-season record for victories, and was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Year, solidifying himself as one of the nation's premier collegiate pitchers.

"Ty's work ethic, competitiveness, and commitment to excellence were evident from the moment he joined our organization," said Danny Kirkman, Owner and CEO of the Lexington Flying Pigs. "Watching him develop into one of the best pitchers in college baseball and now realize his dream of being drafted into Major League Baseball is incredibly rewarding. We couldn't be happier for Ty and his family and look forward to following his professional career."

The Flying Pigs take great pride in providing collegiate players with opportunities to compete at a high level while preparing them for success beyond the summer season. Brachbill's journey from the Old North State League to professional baseball is a testament to both his dedication and the level of talent showcased throughout the league.

The entire Lexington Flying Pigs organization congratulates Ty on this well-deserved achievement and wishes him continued success as he begins his professional baseball career with the San Diego Padres.
